These delicate double dorjes are precisely set into a sterling silver circlet chased with a classical Tibetan meander pattern, and graced with a glowing garnet cabochon. In Tibetan Buddhism, the dorje represents the lightning fast ability of the Buddha’s teachings to bring one into a state of enlightenment or Nirvana. The thunderbolt shape of the prongs of the dorje symbolizes the immediacy of this power.
The Tibetan word “dorje” means “lord of the stones” or “diamond”, referring to the indestructible quality of being that can be attained by following the Vajrayana path of Buddhism.
The dorje is traditionally paired with a ritual bell. During a Tibetan Buddhist ceremony, the dorje is held in the right hand, and the bell in the left, representing the inseparable union of emptiness and form.
